Today we learnt about various tools in Maya, it was the first lesson that I managed to follow, make notes on and understand!! So a remarkably good start to the day, here's just a basic model of what we made and applied tools to. Its just a simple geometric "hand" but I'm going to look at applying what I learned today later on. Such as: hierarchys, parenting, using a locater/group, constraints and blending between animation and constraints.

CGI Background
I've decided to start cracking away with my CGI environment this week by collecting some imagery from the local pub. I've chosen a pretty basic setup to get me going with various textures and things to model, with the idea that if I can get these all done to a pretty high spec (inc lighting) I might move onto something a little more challenging if I have the time. But with little to no experience using Maya, who's to say this won't be difficult in itself. Fingers crossed ay.
I've included a picture showing the texturing/lighting etc and my own rough sketch of what I'm actually going to model.

UV Unwrapping in Maya
Here's my first craic at UV Unwrapping in Maya, I found it abit hard to get my head round but with practice hopefully I'll be nearer to understanding all the process involved in modelling from start to finish. I've gathered an epic selection of notes so far and we've barely begun. Lovely.

Models in Maya
[1st ever model In Maya]
Finaaaaaaallyyyyyy finished the model of a coke bottle. It took quite alot of effort and a fair amount of mistakes, thanks to all the people who put up with my thousands of questions. Although I actually enjoyed making it, it's given me a clue as to the amount of time its going to take to model each individual object for George's brief. And that's not even including adding texture =l So yeah. Maybe I'll have a toast later tonight for the next few weeks without sleep =)
